On Sat­ur­day, Nov. 12, sev­eral Lokion­ites will be at everyone’s favorite uncon­fer­ence, Bar­Camp Mem­phis, armed and ready to speak on a vari­ety of UX topics.

For those new to the con­cept, this is a knowledge-sharing event with an inter­ac­tive for­mat – atten­dees start the day by vot­ing on which pre­sen­ta­tions they’d like to see. Each pre­sen­ta­tion is only 30 min­utes, and all top­ics relate to the web, inter­ac­tive devices, or geekery.

Here’s a sneak peek at what we’ve pre­pared – don’t be afraid to come early and vote on any or all of our pro­posed topics:

• Smart / Respon­sive Mobile Design
  Design­ing for touch inter­ac­tions on an ever-growing array of devices and screen sizes can be daunt­ing. We will dis­cuss effi­cient ways to focus mobile fea­tures, tips for design­ing for touch and approaches to imple­ment a “respon­sive” design that adapts to any screen size.
• Mobile Audi­ence Research: Some­times You’ve Just Gotta Be There
  “Know thy users for they are not you.” The best way to under­stand the folks we design for is to go hang out with them, but that can be scary if you’re shy or unpre­pared. We’ll share some sto­ries from our recent mobile-focused field stud­ies and offer lots of sug­ges­tions for how to plan, con­duct and ana­lyze such out-in-the-wild audi­ence research so you get what you need out it.
• Mobile Usabil­ity Test­ing: Hands-on Demo Ses­sion
  Come try out the “sled” we crafted to be able to record usabil­ity test ses­sions on any mobile device. With help from you, we’ll quickly con­duct, record and play back usage of someone’s mobile site or app, then dis­cuss how to plan usabil­ity test­ing and ana­lyze the out­comes so you can get con­crete data to improve usability.
• Think­Fac­tory: Gamestorm­ing to Break Through Design Chal­lenges
  As a group, we will try out some fun sam­ple work­shop tac­tics for get­ting folks ener­gized and involved in cre­ative think­ing and prob­lem solv­ing. Together we’ll brain­storm approaches to an on-the-spot design chal­lenge and talk through what we’ve learned about smartly struc­tur­ing par­tic­i­pa­tory work­shops that pro­duce action­able outcomes.
