Hurst Review —
Simplifying content management to deliver a cohesive, mobile-ready student experience
The Challenge
Hurst Review is a leader in preparing nursing students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exams for Registered Nurse (RN) and Practical Nurse (PN) licensure. Hurst Review sought to improve key aspects of their digital experience to better serve their growing student base. Their primary objectives were to increase enrollment, reduce call center inquiries, and create a cohesive design for use in both their public marketing website and their student-only Learning Management System (LMS) site.
In addition, Hurst Review wanted to reduce their content management system (CMS) licensing fees, streamline content editing, and create landing pages quickly without relying on developers or incurring extra costs.
Their existing sites were costly to maintain and not optimized for mobile users. The decade-old LMS site, in particular, needed an overhaul in terms of both user experience—such as improved navigation and progress reporting—and visual design to ensure a modern, engaging experience.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Hurst Review partnered with Lokion to deliver a comprehensive solution. The project began with extensive research, including benchmark analysis and in-depth interviews with stakeholders and users. This research informed the development of a new site architecture for both the public marketing site and the LMS site.
Lokion created low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes that served as the foundation for building the new public site and LMS site. Lokion developed the public site, while Hurst Review's team built the LMS site based on Lokion's prototypes. The new design ensured a cohesive user experience across both platforms, creating a seamless transition for students between the public and LMS sites.
A key component of the solution was the selection of Prismic as the new CMS. Prismic allows Hurst Review to easily create and update content, build landing pages, and keep the site fresh without relying on developers. The switch to Prismic also greatly reduced CMS and maintenance costs.
Both the new public site and LMS site are fully optimized for mobile users, providing a modern, fresh, and cohesive design. The LMS now features enhanced progress tracking, improved search functionality, and robust reporting capabilities to support students as they prepare for their NCLEX exams.

The Results
The new site has already delivered reduced monthly CMS costs, a scalable and easily maintainable website, and a vastly improved user experience for both the public site and LMS site. The mobile-optimized design ensures that students can access all of Hurst Review’s information and resources from any device, while the cohesive look and feel across both platforms create a consistent brand experience.
Hurst Review is well-positioned for future growth, with a flexible, efficient platform that meets the needs of both their marketing team and students.
