How Lokion Built an AI Task Force and What We’ve Learned Along the Way

A few years ago, our leadership team recognized that Lokion needed to formalize our approach to AI exploration, adoption, and regulation. With new tools emerging daily and AI capabilities evolving rapidly, we needed a focused strategy to identify the most valuable applications for our business and ensure that AI initiatives aligned with our goals.
Some team members were eager to explore AI for internal productivity, others wanted to see its potential for client work, and then, of course, there was always that question hanging in the air:
"Is this going to replace developers forever?"
We quickly realized that if we wanted to integrate AI in a meaningful way, we needed structure. That’s when we formed Lokion’s AI Task Force—a dedicated team that would explore, test, and guide the company’s AI adoption strategy.
Where We Started: Making Sense of the AI Landscape
Rather than diving in headfirst without direction, we started by listening. We held AI workshops with each department to:
- Understand where they saw opportunities for AI
- Identify pain points where AI tools weren’t meeting expectations
- Gather ideas about what we should prioritize as a company
From there, the AI Task Force took these insights and created a set of priorities for Lokion’s AI adoption strategy. They recommended specific tools, and we subscribed, tested, and provided feedback. This process allowed us to refine our approach, ensuring we weren’t just chasing hype but actually finding practical AI solutions that made sense for our business.
How AI Became Part of Our Daily Work
One of the best things we did was meet one-on-one with every employee to walk through their daily to-do list and find ways AI could support their work. Some people discovered time-saving automation tricks, while others realized that AI tools weren’t quite ready for their needs. Both were valuable lessons.
Here’s how we continue to support AI adoption across Lokion:
- One-on-one and group demos to showcase how AI can be practically applied in different roles
- AI lunch and learns where employees share successes and roadblocks, helping the entire team learn from real-world use cases
- Continuous testing and refinement, tracking which tools are working, which aren’t, and adjusting our strategy accordingly
How Our AI Task Force Has Evolved
What started as an experimental initiative has now become an ongoing strategic function. AI is not replacing developers, but it is augmenting our work, allowing us to be more efficient and creative.
Today, our AI Task Force continues to:
- Test new tools, use cases, and integrations
- Test “old” tools for enhancements and updates
- Guide company-wide AI adoption
- Remind team members that AI isn’t perfect, but we should celebrate progress
- Ensure AI supports—not replaces—our talent and expertise
AI will continue to evolve, and so will our approach to using it. If you're curious about how to start your own AI Task Force, check out our step-by-step guide here.
